Paper Mario: The Origami King is a Russian 3D animated preschool educational television series created by Georgiy Vasilyev and produced by Soyuzmultfilm. The series itself is based on the 2021 video game of the same name. It premiered on TVOntario as part of its TVOKids block on April 15, 2021. Shortly after, it began airing on other channels as well. Then, Paramount Global picked up worldwide rights to the show so that way they could air it on Nick Jr. internationally as well, and also release it on Paramount+, SkyShowtime, and Netflix, alongside Pluto TV. Every episode lasts 7 minutes in length. Because the series premiered in Russia a month prior to the series' release in the USA, one would assume that the series was originally produced in Russian. Actually, it was originally produced in English, and the Russian version is actually a dub. With the 2nd season finishing, TVOntario, Knowledge Network, and CBC no longer air the series. It is still airing on other channels around the world, however. It has been presumed that the series will return on those channels when the 3rd season premieres. The series has been renewed for a 2nd season which premiered in 2023. A 3rd season is also in the works slated for sometime in November 2024.
